Been up since 4am and since I couldn't fall back asleep I decided I'd start my day off with a little exercise.  Just got back from a 3 mile run, I've started training for a half again...

Today I'm back in the studio to work on some pieces commissioned by a friend of mine. She's keeping me busy and it's great. I'm beginning to outline ideas for an 'official' line and I'll soon be searching for a show to participate in to test the waters and see how I fare. Wax 2 starts next week...

Since I don't have any new pieces to show right now, I'll leave you with this beautiful shot of the San Diego coastline.

Last Week of Millinery

This is it...the home stretch. I've almost completed the collection and class will come to an end next week. We are to bring in everything we've made (that'll be 8 or 9 hats at least from me), our mood boards and a snack to share with the class. I'm trying to figure out just how to carry all of this onto the train...at rush hour. It will be a feat.

I do have this handy hat box, which should do just the trick...

Next week, it's back to jewelry...

Thinking of

Boston...will see you soon.

Thursday

Couldn't think of anything creative for the post title, so there you have it, you get the day of the week.

An interesting aside from wiki...Thursday Etymology: The contemporary name comes from the Old English Þunresdæg, "Thunor's Day"[1][2][3] (with loss of -n-, first in northern dialects, from influence of Old Norse Þorsdagr, meaning "Thor's Day"). Thunor and Thor are derived from the Proto-Germanic god Thunraz, god of thunder, while German Donnerstag is derived from Donar (see Donar Oak)...Oddly appropriate since we've been watching The Vikings on the History Channel. Anyway...

I've been working on a grey fedora today. It's taken me quite some time to sew the ribbon & feather and during this painstaking process, I realized that I'd sewn the sweat band on too high. Because I'll be graded on this one, I'll have to redo it, which makes me a little frustrated. All in all, I'm pleased with it otherwise. It's one I'll be able to wear in the fall and if this overcast weather keeps up, I may just sneak it in before the end of the month. I've probably spent about 5-6 hours on this so far as everything is hand done. I expect I'll spend another 1-2 hours fixing my mistake and sewing the lining.
Hat!

Tomorrow I have to pick up some straw hoods...we were told that a part of our collection must include a straw hat. Would have been nice to have known this the last time I was picking up supplies. Ah well, this will work out just as well since I promised my cousin I'd make her a 'floppy' hat and I'd like one too...and I may as well make a straw fedora for summer...
